Full Circle

I'm just as guilty as the next meatsuit when it comes to the example Brene Brown mentions in her TED Talk "The Power of Vulnerability".  Remember it?  The one where you cling to the one "area of improvement" your boss mentions and forget all about the thousand other things you're doing right.

Yep.  That's pretty much me.

Try as I might, I replay over and over the one negative part of my day or the one silly thing I said or the one thing I could have done better.

And then the universe decides to send me a wink...a little swirl of magic to remind me that in order to stand in the light you have to look for it.  Maybe even walk over and flip the switch.  Perhaps light a candle instead of cursing the darkness.

Thank you for the honest evaluations.  A few were not what I would have given you, but most were right on point.

I'll see you tomorrow for SAS!

Love and Light,
Beltran

  4. I'm curious if you Beltran think I deserve what I gave my self. Also I really missed watching every one trying to awkwardly dance today.

  5. My god, Under Pressure brought back some serious memories from Freshman year. It's crazy to think that we're juniors now, when only a moment ago we just arrived. I'm super pumped for SAS tomorrow, PLUS pink out!

  6. There are far too many positives I see as day to day, minor accomplishments. It’s human nature to hold ourselves to expectations and not feel any sense of pride in reaching them, because we see them as if they’re merely expected. But mistakes need to be a valued part of every day as well. Learning is a part of living, and a key component to learning is making mistakes. Looking forward to some insightful SAS tomorrow.

  7. I miss being able to present in front of people who otherwise would never hear my voice, as well as getting to know people I'd never have the guts to speak with one on one. Cherish the opportunity

  11. Never knew the song that meant "Physics test" could ever have any other meaning! Extremely necessary today.

  12. Flashback to freshman year in Mr. Benz really hit me hard during second period today.

  13. This class is challenging because it makes us think about ourselves in ways we never wished to do so. However, that is what I think will make the biggest difference in our lives.

  22. The fact that we are able to pick our grades is still bewildering. We are able to actually choose what our futures can hold for us. I hope at least choose something close to what we deserve not just what we want.

  25. It's weird to think that a song that once meant under the pressure of a physics test could have a completely different meaning within only a couple years of time. I'm excited for SAS tomorrow!

  26. I’ve heard “Under Pressure” so much over the past three years, yet I’ve never stopped to pay attention to the lyrics. I find it really interesting how something I thought I understood ended up being so much more complex. Can’t wait to see what people will talk about for SAS tomorrow.
