Thank you for the work today - make sure you have gone through the questions I handed out in class...the fact that I made a trip to the copy room should indicate...well, something, don't you think? It's so 1970s in there.
Remember to sign up or figure out who is presenting SAS this Friday. (Anyone who didn't present their issue on Finals Day should get first dibs...). I will post the SAS/form checklist I will be using but I'll print them out on blue paper so no need to worry about that.
I'll see you tomorrow as we continue to learn and grow and walk in kindness.
Love and light,
Beltran
P.S. - Coretta Scott King is a lovely name, don't you think?
Mr. Speakers real name is Samuel Rayburn!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the happy birthday song Meghan and Nick ✨
ReplyDeleteI don't think, I know
ReplyDeleteThese words "like a splash of water" from JFK changed Shalala life wow!
ReplyDeleteTamale belongs to period 5...#LetLizSpeak #ShePersisted
ReplyDeleteit's super cool how his speech still connects to today's issues!
ReplyDeleteThe copy room could be a good little comedic movie... create something 2.0???
ReplyDeleteA lovely name, but apparently not a lovely rhetor. Or at least Mitch McConnell thinks so.
ReplyDeleteDon't assume
DeleteWell the other option is that he was playing party politics to overcome basic tenants of democracy that were in the way of his personal gains in power.
DeleteI was giving him the benefit of the doubt.
I think Civil Rights is a pretty name too. I also like the name Martin.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteJKF!
ReplyDeleteCoretta and JFK besties forever!
ReplyDeleteCoretta had a pretty nice husband too, she was considered "First Lady of the Civil Rights Movement"
ReplyDeleteFun fact: Coretta's father was the first black male in their neighborhood to own a car
ReplyDeleteButtttt.. I'm not too into the name Mitch
ReplyDeleteMartin Luther King is also a lovely name !
ReplyDeleteStruggle is a never ending process. Freedom is never really won, you earn it and win it in every generation.

ReplyDeleteTamale and Coretta Scott King will forever be legends
ReplyDeleteI wish my head didn't hurt so much in class today, but it was nice to learn a little bit more about JFK.
ReplyDeleteHortative? Horchata??
ReplyDeleteCorretta Scott King and Martin Luther King = couple goals
ReplyDeleteThe true "kings" of the Civil Rights Movement!
ReplyDeleteMr. Kennedy has a nice voice. I liked his little accent he had. :( R.I.P
ReplyDeleteA woman using her voice will forever be the most powerful or most terrifying thing in the world. It's which way one finds it that you have to look out for.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it takes a moment of silence to come back louder.
To persistance, being heard, and the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood! xx
Oh my bad... I meant "had" aghhhh I feel horrible now because I feel like you think I'm making fun of him now. Aghhhhh I'm not I'm sorry but I meant had. :/
ReplyDeleteJFK's speech was such a fun piece to learn and read about. I can totally see why this speech is still used today as a tool.
ReplyDeleteNo hat, no problem
ReplyDeleteWhat are we going to do for our country?
ReplyDeleteNo love for the USSR while talking about JFK?
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed confusing Companogne kids with riveting tales of salsa music homework
ReplyDeletehttp://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-28562156 The duck sauce is spreading?
ReplyDeleteIf you got lost in the "sauce", here's some clarity: http://www.cnbc.com/2017/02/08/how-mitch-mcconnells-silencing-of-elizabeth-warren-totally-and-completely-backfired-commentary.html
ReplyDeleteCorretta and Martin... YES
ReplyDeletethose who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.
ReplyDeleteSad parallel that both civil rights movement husbands' lives were cut short. Great men and woman they are.
