Nevertheless, She Persisted...

It's amazing to read rhetoric from decades ago that still inspires today...the power of a well-written speech cannot be ignored.  Check out this NPR article from 2011 that sheds some light on Kennedy's address.

Thank you for the work today - make sure you have gone through the questions I handed out in class...the fact that I made a trip to the copy room should indicate...well, something, don't you think?  It's so 1970s in there.

Remember to sign up or figure out who is presenting SAS this Friday.  (Anyone who didn't present their issue on Finals Day should get first dibs...).  I will post the SAS/form checklist I will be using but I'll print them out on blue paper so no need to worry about that.

I'll see you tomorrow as we continue to learn and grow and walk in kindness.

Love and light,
Beltran

P.S. - Coretta Scott King is a lovely name, don't you think?

  7. A lovely name, but apparently not a lovely rhetor. Or at least Mitch McConnell thinks so.

    1. Well the other option is that he was playing party politics to overcome basic tenants of democracy that were in the way of his personal gains in power.

I was giving him the benefit of the doubt.

  22. A woman using her voice will forever be the most powerful or most terrifying thing in the world. It's which way one finds it that you have to look out for.
Sometimes it takes a moment of silence to come back louder.
To persistance, being heard, and the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood! xx

  24. JFK's speech was such a fun piece to learn and read about. I can totally see why this speech is still used today as a tool.
