Thank You

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for today.  I very much needed the love, the energy, the dancing.  It was an absolutely wonderful way to end the school year.  I am forever grateful that I was able to start each of my teaching days with you.  It was a pleasure.

And to ALL of you lovelies, happy HAPPY summer.  Y'all have my email...

The Last Monday

It felt weird to say goodbye to y'all today. Not a single one among you did anything but make me smile all year long. Honestly. Even when I got frustrated with you it was out of love and not indifference. I so enjoyed getting to know you and though it might seem strange, I feel like I learned a lot from you. Not the other way around.

Thank you for loving me as you did during the past few weeks that were/have been so difficult for me. Any other crew of kids and I doubt I would have even come back.

I wish each of you a joyful summer vacation. I hope to hear from you and see your beautiful smiles sooner rather than later.

Periods 3 & 4

So here's the truth.  Period 3 was a journey as we all know and Period 4 was too but in a different way.  What I saw today reminded me that growth is a process, that no matter the naysayers, what happened in Room 853 this past school year was beautiful and magical and exactly what we all needed.

The TED Talks I saw to end the year were homeruns.  As MN said, "orb[s] of light".  I've never been more impressed.

I wish you two classes all the best.

The Last Real Day

It's always bittersweet to say goodbye, to watch things change just as you get to know people, find a rhythm, start to flow. Another great day of TED Talks and good things. I can't believe it's almost all over. Saying goodbye to periods 3 and 4 tomorrow. How is that going to go? No more pumpkin? No more shining stars? No more teech? No more good energy and blanket wrapped juniors? All a bit much. But everything arises, abides and dissolves. So it goes.

Hi...

Great Day 1 of TED Talks.  My word.  Thank you for that...makes me excited for tomorrow.

Most of you received your Senior Portrait information in class...if you were absent, please see me tomorrow and I'll give you the packet.  Also, our textbook return is  WED., JUNE 15.  Make sure you bring all your books with you and return them as quickly as possible so we can get to the talks.

On Thursday you will be cleaning out your lockers from 11:25 am onwards.  Don't be a jerk and leave things for other people to clean.

Happy Friday

Happy end of the week.  Thank you so much for all the kindness and love.  It means a lot and it helped a lot too.  Just as a reminder, your TED Talk scripts are due via google docs by midnight on Sunday.  Y'all know I have no room in my heart for excuses so...Presentations start Monday so I assume you know if you're going.  I can't wait to see you looking all professional, and I certainly can't wait to hear your presentations.

Hi there.  I'll be back tomorrow...but as a heads up, I'm not the same exact me I was when I last saw you.  I'm sure you understand, but I will do my very best to be present...

In other news, it looks like we will go through your College Projects in class tomorrow - you can each show me your work while others work on TED Talks.  We'll also go over TED Talk expectations.  I'm looking forward to seeing who has signed up and for what slots.

Friday, let's do one last SAS on anything you would like...inspiring videos, carpool karaoke, just all about fun.  Yes?

And, for any of you who received slips during period 4 today, see below:

If an ASB student delivered a list of students to your room today, please instruct those students that they are receiving an award at underclass awards tomorrow at 2:30 in the big gym.

Expectations

Hi there. For tomorrow and Wednesday (block schedule, right?), PLEASE work on your TED Talks.  And make sure you have a script ready to go.  I know without a doubt that some of you are using my absence as a nice excuse to not get anything done.  That's on you and your conscience.  And just as I know that, I know that some of you are being my beautiful students and not only meeting expectations but exceeding them.  Thank you for that.  So...when you see a substitute and not me, write your TED Talk, memorize your TED Talk, practice your TED Talk, plan your outfit, plan your hand gestures, plan your amazing performance because if I know anything these days, it's that there is no time to waste.

Hi lovelies. Miss you terribly but I'll be back next week - likely Thursday. I'm sure you understand that I need a bit of time. But thanks to MB, your TED Talk sign up sheets will be posted on Monday as promised. Maddie will make sure the sheets go up at lunch to give everyone a fair shot at signing up for the slot they want. And please see an older post with all the TED Talk info. It was posted a couple weeks ago.

Since I'll be coming back next week, your College Projects are still due Monday the 6th. I will grade them once I get back to town.

Thank you for the kind emails and messages. They are very thoughtful and much appreciated. I'm finding it difficult to sleep so your emails keep me company...
